Henley Boat Races

James Lee

The "Henley Boat Races" began in 1975 when a Cambridge undergraduate, Richard Bates organised a Boat Race between men's lightweight crews from Oxford and Cambridge. This tradition continued until 2019 when the lightweight men's race moved to the Tideway.

The event enlarged in 1977 to include the Women's Boat Race and the founder of Rock the Boat, and designer of much of our iconic artwork, Annabel Eyres represented Oxford in two Boat Races in Henley in 1987 and 1988, losing the first, and winning the second.

Annabel's "Henley Boat Race" design is available as an A5 greetings card, and also as a print.

The lightweight women's race joined the party in Henley in 1984 and was raced there for the last time in 2019 and will this year also race on the Tideway, the race taking place on Sunday 15 March.

Rock the Boat wishes all of the crews a great race!
