Jack Beresford : Olympian at War
Written by John Beresford, Jack's son as a tribute and memory of his Father, Jack Beresford CBE. As well as some of his rowing career & life quite a lot of the book is a transcript of all his 119 letters to his parents from the WW1 Trenches for 6 months till he was wounded in October 1918. These make a fascinating story & arguably were formative to his illustrious rowing career.
Jack Beresford won 3 Gold and 2 Silver medals in five Olympic Games - the most memorable being the 1936 Berlin Games.
So this is rather more than just a rowing book and it is hoped it will be of wider interest to people. The Peter Jackson film, "They shall not grow old" was part of the inspiration to write this book.
